Tyrus Wong Studies

Did a few studies from the movie Bambi, which I think is one of the best uses of color, light and background design in animation. Tyrus Wong was the key background desinger on Bambi and his personal style influenced much of the film. I did these studies to practice lighting, composition and when to let the detail just go. It always surprises me how much love goes into every little detail of films, especially animation, where every line and shadow is meticulously thought out. The studies were all done in prisma and graphite and the color was added in photoshop.

Meet in the Forest

Here's a quick sketch from last night, somehow I always default to forests.

Siblings

I have the best sibling ever, their my best friend and they do art too! I don't know what I'd do without them. We used to run around and get into fights a lot but at the end of the day I've always got their back.

Morning Light

Felt like doing something cute! I've always been distracted by how magical light is, bouncing refracting and dancing. It can be really pleasant to just fall in love with.

Dreaming of Traveling

This one came very naturally to me, it was a fun exercise in taking my landscape painting knowledge, pushing and tweaking it to get the results I wanted. I found myself making decisions based on intuition a lot and I feel like a lot of artists don't rely on them enough. Hopefully it's filtered through good taste!

This piece centers around temptation being beautiful and enticing while having a dark undercurrent. Done while listening to Chopin
